Okay, Google! Okay, I get it!

Clearly Google is trying to tell me something: I have been negligent in blogging about recent casting spoilers. I’ve received no less than twenty Google Alerts containing between two and ten links each about the most recent, controversial one, and I got the message! So here it comes: three casting spoilers released over the last few weeks, and my general reaction to them.

The first one is former The OC star Melinda Clarke. Well-known for her guest-starring roles as Nandi and Lady Heather, on Firefly and CSI respectively, it should come as no surprise that Clarke will be playing a femme fatale. Previously-announced guest star John Larroquette’s character will, apparently, coach our little Chuckles in the art of seduction to win this man-eater over. I honestly fear for Chuck’s naivety in the face of a woman who looked like she could eat both Nathan Fillion and William Petersen alive, but it will be fun to see her share a screen with Adam Baldwin again.

Next up is football player Michael Strahan, who will play Mitt, the owner of the Buy More-adjacent Mighty Jock sporting goods store. Mitt and his Mighty Jock cronies will take over the home theater room in the Buy More for their lunch breaks, and harrass Anna, leaving Morgan to evict them and save the day. (Why does it seem like Casey would be better suited for this duty, seeing as he is large and scary and also keeps a gun stashed in the home theater room?) Josh Schwartz says that Strahan was very funny, and that a return visit from Mitt is not out of the question.

Finally, the biggie. The one that is flooding my inbox with link upon link, story upon story, because apparently everything that Nicole Richie does, from breathing to shopping to picking her nose, is exceedingly newsworthy. Yes, Nicole Richie, famous for being famous (and oh by the way there was that show she did with Paris Hilton) will be appearing on Chuck, portraying Sarah’s high-school nemesis. Personally, at this point I’m eager for some kind of writing magic that will endear Sarah to me, because as much as I love the show, I don’t find her remotely likeable. I don’t really feel like making skinny, gorgeous Sarah the victim of bullying in high school is gonna do it for me, either. Still, I hope Richie’s character gives her hell, and I hope the writers surprise me, because Yvonne Strahovski strikes me as being capable of doing more than alternately kicking ass and pouting prettily. Personally, I’ve never been a fan of Nicole Richie, but until I’m given a reason not to, I will trust in the Schwartz, who says she was funny, and kicked some ass herself.
