Spoilers in the key of squee…

Courtesy of EW’s Michael Ausiello, here there be spoilers.

John Sheridan? In my spy dramedy? It’s more likely than you think. The Awesomes, Drs. Honey and Woody Woodcomb(e?), have been cast. Morgan Fairchild and… wait for it… BRUCE EFFING BOXLEITNER. Says Ausiello:

Fairchild, recently seen — by a few people, anyway — bitch-slapping Bo Derek on MyNetworkTV’s Fashion House, will play Dr. Honey Woodcombe. She arrives in time to take over help plan her son’s wedding to Chuck’s sister, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster). Boxleitner will be her awesomely named husband, Dr. Woody Woodcombe, who is said to be very excited to help welcome Ellie into his family — maybe too excited. (Gross. I love it!)

NBC must be loving Boxleitner, who is also reportedly appearing in Heroes this season. (Please hold while the blogger swoons.)

Right. Okay. Moving on to less gleeful news, in a video post which was also made today, Ausiello spoke to Chuck co-creator Josh Schwartz:

Schwartz: A major character dies in the first episode.
Ausiello: Really?
Schwartz: Yeah. A significant character to the show.
Ausiello: Really dies.
JS: Yes.

There’s much speculation on who the deceased will be in comments to the post, but as Zach Levi has already told the press that Chuck himself dies twice this season… perhaps they plan to get death number one out of the way up front? Just because he dies for real doesn’t mean he dies for good, now, does it?

  1. Buffy died twice. For real.
Also, true story, my mother’s name is Maggie Maag. We call her Snoop.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

  2. Actually, she’s died 3 times by now. Remember that her heart stopped for a bit in the OR when Warren shot her? (Buffy Summers vs. Daniel Jackson merchandise can be found here…) But Buffy has the benefit of being set in a mythos that allows for supernatural means of resurrection, while Chuck is not. Bryce Larkin’s “death” is the only basis for comparison we have right now. I’m sure they’ll come up with something weird and cool to set Chuck apart from Bryce, though. And it’s nice to have a new contender in the ring. I’m sure Daniel appreciates the fresh meat.

  3. Duh. As much as I loved the series, there are parts of season 6 I block out.
How many times did Daniel die? Never mind - going off topic.
I am looking forward to the new season.

  4. Bearing in mind this tally was made before Ark of Truth and Continuum, both of which I’ve not yet seen, I believe he’s got eleven deaths under his belt so far. Hopefully Chuck will never aspire to beat his high score!
