The Intersect’s Wish List, revisited.
Allow me to refer you back to the wish list I made for season two. Let’s see how we’re doing so far, at the midseason mark, as we await the arrival of the second half.
Well, number five — consistent characterization for Sarah — is probably a pipe dream. As long as male writers are voicing a female character, they’re going to make her as inconsistent as they need her to be to fit their plots. She’s getting a little better, but I’m not holding my breath for perfection. Number one — the Chuck/Casey kiss — was already in the cards when I posted the list, and I knew it, so it was kind of a freebie. Number two — more Zach Levi skin — has also come true. Which leaves us with numbers three and four.
Three was more Morgan-Casey interaction, which hasn’t happened much, sadly. But Casey’s been playing very well off of Chuck, and Morgan’s been given Lester as his new foil. All-in-all, I consider this a pleasing alternative to what I was hoping for. As consolation prizes go, I’ll take anything that gives Vik Sahay more screen time. No, seriously. Give the man more screen time.
Number four was a cameo from director Robert Duncan McNeill. As far as I can tell, that’s not going to happen. But. I did mention that I’d take a cameo from any of McNeill’s Voyager costars in lieu, and happily, and it looks like I’m getting my wish. I specifically mentioned that Robert Picardo was about to be out of work, due to the cancellation of Stargate: Atlantis, and in an interview about the series’ end, TVGuide.com asked Picardo what was next for him, and he revealed that he will be appearing on Chuck:
“They’re doing a very big story arc about who created the “Intersect,” which is this special super-computer system (stored in Chuck’s brain), and I think I’m not speaking out of turn when I say I figure heavily into that story. There are lots of cool surprises and twists coming up.”
Robert Picardo is one of those actors that I feel needs to be on my television ALL THE TIME. I am SO EXCITED about this.
